Bala' mainly depends on agriculture as it owns wide areas of land and most of its inhabitants are farmers.

The most common trees planted in the town are olives, apricots and figs. The average output of olive oil is ten-thousand tons a year and large quantities of apricots, figs and almonds.

Farmers not only grow these kinds of trees, but they also grow wheat and barley in winter besides vegetables such as tomatoes, beans, peas, marrows and green pepper in summer.

The farmers have recently used farming in greenhouses for growing different kinds of vegetables.

Another important field in the town's economy is raising poultry for meat and for laying eggs, so there are hundreds of thousands of hens for this purpose.

Moreover, some people raise sheep, goats and cows for meat and milk. Besides, they raise other kinds of animals for work in their land.

There is a limited number of governmental employees who work inside or outside the town such as teachers, doctors, lawyers and managers. Moreover, there is a somehow big number of people who work with the different security branches of the Palestinian National Authority.

Lastly, there is a sector of traders who work either in the town or outside it and some of them have achieved a flourished trade. Besides, there are a few successful professions in the town such as carpentry and blacksmithing.
