The population of
Bala' is about eight thousands distributed among eight main
phratries. The two oldest phratries lived in the town were (Hamdan)
and (Mahmoud) whose origin refers to (Der'a) is Syria. The phratry
of (Jetawi) had moved to Bala' from a village in the west of
Nablus city called (Jeet),
but (Shahrour) phratry is from (Barbara) town. Another phratry came
from the town of (Deir-El-Ghsoun). It is (Al-Haj) phratry. The other
two phratries in Bala' are (Sulayman) phratry and (Omair) phratry
whose origin is from Yemen.
Every phratry is
divided into many branches. Nevertheless, they live peacefully and
cooperatively.
Many people
immigrated from Bala' to some neighboring Arab countries especially
Jordan after the Arab defeat in Palestine in 1967. So, the number of
people who live outside Bala' is bigger than the one in it.
The majority of
those who are outside can't return to their town because of Israeli
restrictions which forbid them from staying in or even visiting it.
Note:
The origin of phratries in Bala' is obtained from oldmen and
historical resources. |
